***Since season 2 is out it is finally time to recap Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 1 (part 1 and 2).
The stage is set when our protagonist, a 34-year-old NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) that has been extremely bullied his whole life dies from a car accident. Luckily he gets a second chance at life and is reborn as Rudeus Greyrat in a whole new world🌏, all while retaining his memories and intellect from his past life.
The journey commences in Rudeus’s quaint home village where he is born to his doting parents, Paul, a flirtatious knight, and Zenith, a captivating sorceress. Even as a toddler, our little hero astonishes everyone by casting magic at just 3 years old🧙🏽. Thanks to his mentor, Roxy Migurdia, Rudeus becomes a prodigious silent spell caster - a feat that surely deserves applause!
Along the way, Rudeus forms a cherished bond with Sylphiette (aka Sylvie), an adorable elf girl. Furthermore, his family expands, welcoming two sisters born to his mother and the kind-hearted maid Lilia. Our hero is also takes a job tutoring 📖 Eris Boreas Greyrat, a spirited noble girl, alongside Ghislaine Dedoldia, a God level swordsman bodyguard in the Kingdom of Ranoa. Rudeus planned to use the job to fund Sylvie and his magic university tuition.
Unforeseen excitement shakes their world when an unexpected mana disruption during Rudeus’s tenth birthday 🎉 causes our trio - Rudeus, Eris, and Ghislaine - to be teleported into the demon lands. Here, Rudeus and Eris, separated from Ghislaine, meet Ruijerd Superdia, a misunderstood demon from the feared Superd race, under the counsel of a “Man-God” he decides to trust him.
As they travel together, our protagonist learns about the tragic history of the Superds and works hard to change the perception of these misunderstood creatures. They form the guild Dead End, showing the world that even the supposed ‘bad guys’ can do good deeds🫂. Their journey takes them to different villages. One of which allowed him to meet Kishirika Kishirisu the great empire that has 12 demon eyes and due to Rudeus’ kindness she gifted him the eye of foresight👁️. They also helped Ghislaine’s beast village by preventing a kidnapping operation.
In the aftermath, Rudeus finds his father, Paul, who rebukes him for not reaching out after the mana disruption but ends up apologizing for putting the burden of finding the family on him. Despite thrilling adventures and several run-ins with all sorts of characters, including a perverted prince 🩲(the same prince that Roxy taught after leaving Rudeus), our hero never loses sight of his family. Following the guidance of the “Man-God”, Rudeus embarks on a daring rescue mission to save his half-sister Aisha and maid Lilia.
A fearful encounter in the winter mountains with Orsted, the Dragon God, results in a violent conflict. Rudeus is gravely injured 😨and learns more about curses and their impacts from the “Man-God.” One of which was passed onto the Superds via gifted spears. Upon recovery, Rudeus and Eris return to their desolate hometowns, parting ways with Ruijerd.
After finding what is left of the Asura kingdom, Eris and Rudeus reunite with Ghislaine and other people of the kingdom. The joyful reunion doesn’t last long when Eris is forced to make a decision to save her kingdom by🏰 becoming Lord Pilemon Notos Greyrat’s concubine or fleeing and having the world think she died during the mana disaster. Even though Rudeus isn’t 15 years old yet (he’s 14 at the time) she decides to keep her promise and sleeps 💏 with him. The next morning, she cuts her hair to shoulder length, leaves and sets off with Ghislaine to grow stronger, leaving Rudeus in a state of depression.
Amidst this turmoil, the Kishirika demon provides crucial information about the location of Rudeus’s Mother (his last missing family member) to Roxy, and the season concludes with a side story featuring Eris and a new magic user, Cliff Grimoire.
In this season of Jobless Reincarnation, we saw Rudeus dealing with extraordinary circumstances, making allies, creating potential love interests, and learning about the complex history and politics of his new world. If like me, you are 💗 excited for season two, to see how much Eris levels up, Roxy’s reunion with Rudeus, Sylvie’s whereabouts, Rudeus’ emotional state since Eris left him, and Rudeus’ mother’s location. I’m hoping season two will be just as adventurous, exciting, and pervy.
